I always thought that, at least earlier on, their lyrics were a big prat of their identity. I Can't Explain? My Generation? And then they revisited those themes in rock opera form with Quadrophenia.
By the Numbers is one of the Who albums that I never heard many times, so I can't comment on the rest of the review.
I think A Bigger Bang is alot more boring than the 90s albums. Prindle's review of it was much harsher than I would be, but I agree with the point about needing a producer with some balls. Btw they did have another studio album since then, but it's all blues covers. It's not embarassing, but it doesn't stand up well next to their early stuff.
I think The Seventh Sojourn is really strong, and other Moody Blues fans seem to share that opinion. I can't believe you like it less than EGBDF. Or that the song you've heard before isn't I'm Just a Singer In A Rock'n'Roll Band.
