I rewatched Raging Bull recently and I while I like the movie about the same as I always did, I did note one thing that I didn't note before: Jake LaMotta doesn't spend nearly as much of this movie as I used to think being a "dick." I mean, he does, but he's actually pretty quiet and reserved most of the time. Maybe James Gandolfini took notes. Hell, it's a safe bet, isn't it?
The second half of The Irishman is boring as hell. Most of the movie after De Niro kills Hoffa could be cut and lose nothing whatsoever. I still think it's an okay movie but my rewatch at home on Easter with my family confirmed that it's not one of Scorsese's masterpieces, just a decent reflection on sin from old age.
