BURN. This actually made me relisten to A Bigger Bang. I agree that it suffers from any real highlights that anyone would need to hear live after the initial tour, but I find it much more appealing than everything but the one or two best songs per album from all the post-Tattoo You, pre-Voodoo Lounge albums.
My picks for the better songs:
Let Me Down Slow
It Won't Take Long
She Saw Me Coming
It Won't Take Long
Look What the Cat Dragged In
I saw them live on this tour and thought it was terrific, but they didn't play those songs. They played:
Rough Justice - ehhh, this is a passible generic rocker, but it wasn't on my wish list.
Rain Fall Down - I don't think that this is one of the better songs either, but it's a better pick for a live set, in that it doesn't exist in the shadow of a bunch of songs they play at every show in the way that Rough Justice does.
This Place Is Empty - Like most Keith ballads, this is acceptable. It's not in the running for his best, but whatever. I accept that he doesn't want to sing You Got the Silver every night.
Worst songs on the album:
I'll agree that Sweet Neo Con has aged like milk.
Driving Too Fast, a song I'd forgotten existed, sounds like a bad early version of a song that would eventually be a fun generic rocker once the proper album version was completed.
Also, the version of this album on Spotify is the "2009 Remaster."
