The Virginia House killed a bill to move up legalizing sales from 2024 to 2022, which is where it's been since it was legalized. (Ed. Possession, use, and limited cultivation are legal in VA. Sales are to start in July 2024. It's legal to outright give away but it can't be for anything of value, like sucking dick.) In DC sales are banned and they will be until Congress allows them. It's looking more and more that Congress will be Republican the next two years. What we do in DC is have shops that will sell you a $30 sticker, and then they'll give you a free gift (1/8oz of weed). Some ask for donations (and getting a "pledge gift" like with NPR) instead. The City Council recently rejected tighter regulations on them and it may be taken up again next session. Even if the gift shops stay in place, the train bridge across the Potomac from Virginia into DC is closing for six months for repairs and upkeep this fall. I'd need a dispensary that delivers to Virginia, and that has its added risks.
