I think the big stinkeroo about 1999 is that few of the longer songs justify their length very well. It's a 45 minute long album stretched out to friggin' 70!!

I always thought KMKMKM was the *weakest* Cure album, though I never heard The Top, The Cure or 4:13 Dream, or any of their EPs or dance remix albums. KMKMKM is filled with weird dated pop pastiches that I couldn't tell if Smith was even serious about some of them. Also Dinosaur Jr.'s "Just Like Heaven" blows the Cure's away.
