Would have to think about that for awhile in order to come up with an actual list but the main example that springs to mind is "A Gathering of Promises" by The Bubble Puppy. I was at the record store with my gf at the time and she found a copy for $5 and we both thought the band name, album title and cover image (the band- a bunch of ugly, dorky looking hippies- in renaissance fair type garb) were all so ridiculous I simply had to buy the album just so we could laugh at it. Imagine my surprise when we popped it in the CD player and heard this:
