Wow amazing set of albums this week.. most of them could be number 1s
Jethro Tull Thick as a Brick (one of my favorite prog albums of all time.. might even be my favorite. Something clicked with me with this and I love this album. It's funny, catchy as ####, has some excellent organ and guitar parts, and for the most part really flows together excellently where it almost never gets boring. Great for close listening for every part, car listening or stoned background music listening)
Kinks Village Green (one of their best albums if not there best.. a very consistent set of songs and so many great hooks and memorable songs here. Not really any stinkers that I can remember)
The Clash London Calling (havent heard this in awhile but I also love this whole album and it is my favorite of theirs. Love the variety and every song is great from what I remember. Even the weaker stuff is still good enough)
The Stones Sticky Fingers (my second favorite of theirs an impressively consistent set of songs.. once again here not a bad song to be found. Not even sure why it's below the others as all of these can be number 1s to me)
Bob Dylan Highway 61 (I found it a bit overrated but still one of his best albums. Always preferred both Blonde On Blonde and Bringing It All Back Home, not only those but also Another Side Of even, and others too but still classic regardless)
The Doors (probably my favorite of their albums.. always loved this debut and honestly never got into any of their other albums as much as this one.. classic set of songs and not really a weak one here either. Just some overplayed songs)
Sonic Youth Daydream Nation (a bit too long I always found but also classic. Love the murky production and there's quite a few highlights here. I think I prefer Sister but it's very good)
Pink Floyd The Wall (very very sick of this album but I don't have animosity for it being overplayed and bombastic either. I do appreciate this album quite a bit still and after Dark Side, Piper, Animals, Wish You We're Here and any other classic shit comes The Wall as one of their best. I like the concept still and many songs here esp the deep cuts but it is overlong and have not much desire to hear it from.beginning to end anymore)
I need to hear Zen Arcade more. It's good but nothing ever clicked where I was enamoured with them. I never liked Lauren Hill barely at all and never got why people liked her so much either but I get I'm probably not listening to her enough
