However my opinion regarding Annie Haslam vocal opinion almost doubled after listening to this album and I am impress by her versatility. Really this album cements her being one of the all time great vocalist.
It showed that she is not just a prog goddess vocalist who sound like an angel.
She’s also a very convincing quirky “Manic Pixie Dream Girl”
Lot of the vocal stylising in this album reminds me a hell of a lot of Bjork and Kate Bush. There are a lot of quirky vocal styling, belting, even some angry singing while mixing it with her folksy singing that we are familiar with her prog work.
The highlight is “Jigsaw” and hearing her squeal at the end of the chorus is mind blowing. This foreshadows Bjork “it’s all so quiet”. The title track “Camera Camera” is also another highlight with her vocal leap with unusual vocalisation (the “I’m” in “I’m sure that you will find me” section) and the sustained note at the end of the song
This album is one of the biggest discrepancy between how I rate the vocal performance and the songs itself.
