Been awhile since I've heard it so maybe I'll pull it out now that Vangelis is dead but though I always dug the album's atmosphere, I really wish the material was stronger. The 2nd disc seems particularly worthless, especially since it retreads motifs explored on disc 1. Basically the only actual songs I like are "The Beast", "Babylon" and (I guess) "The Four Horsemen" though a couple of the instrumentals like "The Lamb" and "Aegian Sea" are kinda cool too (notably mainly due to Vangelis's keyboards). Still, that's a shit ton of filler, especially for a double album. Been even longer since I've heard AC's debut "End of the World" (anyone detecting a running theme?) but I remember enjoying a few songs on that one as well though it's notable that, being released in '68, it's far more in the psych pop vein than "666" regardless of the similarly apocalyptic title.
