The day we watched BG,WD, we were close to the end, and suddenly an angry math professor came stomping in. He had apparently mistakenly booked the auditorium for a big test for a class of close to 100 kids and refused to believe that he had screwed this up. My rambunctious college-age self yelled from the top of the auditorium as he frantically tried to get the teaching assistant to stop the film: "JUST ADMIT THAT YOU F*CKED THIS UP, AND WE'LL LEAVE!" I then stormed out of the hall to see a huge group of confused-looking kids waiting to take their test.
At our next film class, before we watched the rest of it, our prof. remarked that it was probably appropriate to have the end of the movie interrupted considering how tough of a watch it is... I wonder what happened to that a-hole math teacher... (and here's my film professor's profile, if anybody cares [he was among my favorite teachers in college]: https://www.uvm.edu/cas/english/profiles/david-jenemann]
As many Babblers know, I am a fan of BRASIL and should probably give the movie another shot someday.
Off the top of my head, stuff we watched for that class:
Kung Fu Hustle
Contempt (it was the last day of class for my sophomore year, so we weren't getting tested on it, and thus I walked out to go drink beer)
Earth (the Dovzhenko -- I remember a classmate yelled at the end of it, "PLEASE BE OVER!")
...
Damn, more will come to me later...
