Yeah the Perec is great, and on my mental list of things to reread sometime. When I read it I tried to map out the building on paper, although I screwed up some (the building is a 10x10 grid, with most apartments encompassing a few squares, and the story moves around the way a knight in chess moves). I don't know if it added much to the story but it was fun.
I hadn't seen that Dyer book - I've been hit or miss but I'm a big tennis fan so maybe will check it out (even if I don't really ever need to read anything about Federer again).
