Honestly, it's still kind of incredible that "Maxwell"'s lyrics didn't create a controversy when "Abbey Road" first came out but might be partly attributed to the power The Beatles had at the time (though I can totally imagine The Stones releasing a similarly violent song and getting away with it- would probably be more expected from them, actually).
Always thought Hootie were pretty dorky but their hits were kinda catchy and Darius has a decent voice I guess. Still seemed like they were way more popular than they should have been.
Ah been awhile since I've heard "Autobahn". Appreciate how groundbreaking it was but it's never been one of my favorite Kraftwerk albums. Speaking of them, did I ever share the Bremen Radio 1971 bootleg? One of my favorites- just Schneider with Rother and Dinger so it's basically a Kraftwerk/Neu mashup, they do killer versions of stuff from the debut and Rother's playing is more in the acid guitar vein than I've ever heard from him:
