At 45 (yes, I am that old, and I have loved pop music my whole life), I had only heard Floyd's songs on the radio. And I never cared for them.
From what I remember, all of their radio hits came off of the albums DSOTM, Wish You Were Here, and The Wall. I hated them.
Then, recently, a family friend gave me an old LP of DSOTM. When listening to the record sequentially, everything all fell together. I became a fan overnight. Literally.
I went right onto Amazon and bought five of their CDs. Their albums are wonderful.
As for Animals, I never grew up hearing these songs on the radio. At least in the Portland area. Or in Tucson, AZ. Always the same pre-programed Classic Rock radio shit. Another Brick in the Wall. Crap. Money. Not very good on its own.
