That "I WILL FIND YOU!" bit or whatever it is in Last Of The Mohicans, with rain pouring all over Day Lewis' face, struck me as a really, REALLY dumb, overblown scene even in high school. I've never read the book, for which MDISF viciously upbraided me when I tried to bring up Mark Twain's "Fenimore Cooper's Literary Offenses" essay.
It's odd that I was so psyched for the MV film, I've never really watched the show, though I HAVE gone back and watched the famous "In The Air Tonight" scene from the 1984 pilot many many times--it's an awesome scene and of tremendous historical importance besides ("MTV Cops" and all.)
That said, I actually didn't realize until this year that Mann didn't direct that "In The Air Tonight" scene, nor that episode, nor was he the creator of the show. Anthony Yerkovich was the creator of the show, and wrote the pilot, and someone else directed it. Michael Mann was just the producer.
John Mcferrin's FB account had a link to a Twitter post containing a slideshow of all the crazy guest appearances on MV over the years. Did you know MILES DAVIS turned up to play a pimp once? MILES DAVIS, bro!!!
