"They don't defy you"
I love dogs and definitely prefer them to children but I gotta call bullsbhit here. Yeah, a lot of the time when a dog ####s up, it simply doesn't know better but they definitely like to test the limits of what they can get away with, just like kids. The main difference is that they're still dumb animals so it's easier to rationalize and most importantly, disobedient dogs are usually cuter than disobedient dogs. Example: my parents' dog has a habit of getting up on the kitchen table. Sometimes she's looking for food but sometimes she just lies down and chills. She absolutely knows that she isn't allowed up there but can't help herself and it's far more adorable and hilarious than it is frustrating.
In general, there's a pretty wide spectrum of dog behavior so you can't really make any blanket statements about them like John was doing in his previous post. Some dogs are definitely easier to train than others but there's plenty of responsible dog owners out there who are able to keep their dogs from barking too often, jumping up on people etc. And yeah, at their best they're sentient teddy bears who love you unconditionally and are endlessly entertaining,.
