I dunno. It seems en vogue to rip on Wayne Coyne across the interweb now, and I haven't been sticking with their newer stuff that much, but I still find the bulk of their catalog to be diverse and inspiring enough to keep coming back to (aside from certain records like Soft Bulletin that I've played a bit too much over the years). There was a period 5-8 years ago when I would really look forward to their new records, just because it seemed like they would continue experimenting and going in weird directions, but since Oczy Mdly (or whatever), they've kinda settled into a more well-traveled path. oh well.
Fun Trick Noisemaker is just about what you describe, though I like it a bit more than you. High Tide is a nostalgic all-timer for me; so is the Innerspace instrumental. The other Apples record I come back to from time to time is that annoying named Discovery of a World Inside the Moone one. They haven't put anything out since 2010... nothing since Bill Doss (Olivia Tremor Control dude) passed and Schneider started pursuing a higher education. not sure we'll hear from 'em again.
