We stayed on 9th Ave between Geary and Anza. Immediately was taken by how peaceful the building, block, and neighborhood seemed. Our first destination after our flight and unpacking was to the Hong Kong Lounge, which (though not during dim sum hours) absolutely hit the spot for our empty stomachs. We then got a few beers at a cool bar called Richmond Republic Draught House.
The next morning, I stood in line for half an hour to get a bunch of pastries and croissants from Arsicault -- was not expecting the line, as I arrived before it opened, but it was mostly worth the wait. That day we did GGP, as much of it as we could, checking out all the gardens, and popping into Inner Sunset to grab a slice of pizza at Arizmendi Bakery. More and more walking to Ocean Beach... which was covered in fog, oh well! Checked out the windmills and such... then that evening, we did the Mission, which was a killer time. We ate at Taqueria Cancun (AWESOME), then bar-hopped a bit (tried a rooftop place called El Teche, among others).
Sunday was a huge walking day. We ate at Eats in the Richmond for breakfast (killer!), then walked all the way out to the Presidio, checked out Baker Beach, did a few of the trails (pretty stunning), then got over to Fort Point and all that. Was starting to get thick with tourists on the Sunday, but we persevered and walked all the way into downtown from there, which was exhausting but a cool walk, going by Crissy Field and through the Fort Mason area and then into the sh*tshow of the wharf. I immediately caught the vibe down there... too much for me, really, but we did eat at Fog Harbor Fish House, which was a nice time.
Monday was our big vineyard tour day up into Napa and Sonoma, and to cap it off, we ate at The Richmond, which is a prix fixe, rather laid back version of fine dining... really nice experience, with the chef coming out to chat with us multiple times.
I gotta get back to work, but I'll write more later!
