I've probably said this before but I've always had a block re: "Forca Bruta". I know many fans consider it his best and I love the style because it's similar to s/t '69 but I don't find the material nearly as memorable and though I haven't heard it in awhile, I seem to remember it being pretty repetitive., Probably gotta just revisit it with fresh ears though.
Ha "Minha Menina" was pretty much the first Brazilian song I fell in love with too (and yeah the Beatlesque vibe of the song/group makes them/it an ideal entry point) unless you count "Girl From Ipanema" which I even dug as a little kid. But I got into Mutantes via one of my high school gfs who got the "Nuggets II" box which had "Bat Macumba" on it. Then she got a Mutanes comp and I started buying all the classic tropicalia albums on CD (most were expensive imports) and eventually moved on to bossa nova and MPB.
