Tree Of Life is good, but the films Malick quickly made after that were all kinda disposable.
You shouldn't call Zardoz "unironically a good film" and then calling it "zany art house film." That's pretty much the same thing as ironic. I'm pretty sure Boorman himself admitted it was pretty incoherent, but don't quote me on that. It's got lots of cool images and 70s stuff though, so I do recommend watching it.
