Aaaannnd, rearranging Zodiac's letters gives you...uh...
"“Bye Bye Birdie! Time for me to fly!

E by night you’ll see her now approaching Lunar Sunrise in Scorpius blue loch up gully view.

OOD take the helm. Eye eye Capt. Gary Francis Poste. CC:Frank Borman”
"Rev up the 12 cc’=4 hp Model A out to USFS acres to see Sis Donna Lass in a tree with a cache X mark.
Cruise to her historic Lincoln address.
At a beach. Face up the hill. Go fish!
Z is Sir Gary Francis Poste.”
“Let it snow… let it snow… let it snow
Nurse Donna Lass’ out of joint icee body is
13 yards high up in a bear cache mark big pine tree
go magnetic north to compass bearing 85 degrees south east 1970 implicit feet from the MS Dixie Port at Zephyr Cove
to historic Lincoln center,
Collect telephone trunk call,
Who? Gary Francis Poste.”
..........yyyeeahhhh....I get that these messages are sort of chilling, but some people have already poked holes in them (the "MS Dixie Ship," for one, was not operating in 1970 when Zodiac sent the post card) and for that matter, they didn't find anybody's remains up in any tree near Tahoe, and frankly the "decoded messages" are by and large gibberish. What is "Collect telephone trunk call"? "out of joint icee body"? "Scorpius blue loch up gully view"? Buhhhhhhhh? Do you think this guy listens to Judas Priest backwards in his time?
Much of the rest of it is based around Poste being in that area at that time, and a mark on his head, and some car wreck he was in as a youth, and weird Amazon/Facebook messages he posted that are slightly incriminating.
So no, it's probably not him. But for me, the big stinkeroo is that he wasn't a big husky guy and we know above all else that the guy who killed the cab driver was.
My main ways of exploring true crime are FB groups, Wikipedia lists (i.e., "List of fugitives who disappered," "List of solved mysteries," etc.) and the FBI's website, but only a few pages--10 Most Wanted, Seeking Information (<---this one in particular), Kidnappings/Missing Persons and ViCAP.
The Delphi murders were on the Seeking Info page and still are, even with this guy arrested, but they have also popped up in Youtube videos due to the creepy audio clip.
Right now they've added a porn site guy and a Bulgarian crypto scam woman to the 10 Most Wanted, I guess they're sick of everyone on there being a murderer? Eugene Palmer (an 86 year old man who killed his daughter, then disappeared), Robert William Fisher (a guy who blew up his family in Arizona around 9/11, then disappeared) and Jason Derek Brown (a rich Mormon Sean Penn lookalike who killed an armored car guard for not very much money, then disappeared) have all been removed.
The one who's been on there the longest is Alexis Flores, an illegal immigrant from Honduras who was given work in Philadelphia in 2000, then raped and killed a five year old girl, then disappeared, and was deported in 2005 before they realized he was the one who did it. He's probably in Honduras, which has no extradition treaty with the US, so there's that. He's been on the list since 2007 for precisely that reason.
Sherri Ann Jarvis - The Walker County Jane Doe, a 14 year old girl killed and sexually assaulted in a very disgusting manner that I won't go into here in Texas in 1980, solved last year by DNA genealogy investigation. Creepy morgue photos of her were infamous for years.
Dawn Olanick - The Princess Doe, a 17 year old girl found in a New Jersey cemetery in 1982 beaten so badly they couldn't identify her eye color. Turned out of her home in 1982 for truancy, fell in with a nasty pimp named Arthur Kinlaw who is in prison, and presumably beaten to death for not becoming one of his prostitutes. Solved a few months ago by DNA genealogy investigation.
Evelyn Colon - 15 year old pregnant girl killed in 1976 by someone who turned out to be, I think, her boyfriend. Same technology used to solve the other ones solved her. The details of the crime are really, REALLY disgusting and grisly and a pic of her with her nose cut off was wrongly circulated around much of the Internet for awhile.
St. Louis Jane Doe - From 1983, the most disgusting and sad cold case that I know of, even worse than Evelyn Colon, though if they've solved the others, they might solve this one someday. If the details of this story weren't real, they'd make the sickest Halloween urban legend I could think of. Read at your own risk.
