My interest in LOTR begins and ends with the original trilogy books and movies and that's that. I read The Hobbit shortly thereafter and just thought it was a pretty simplistic prelude to the books though I do like the books. I don't want to read Silmarillion and will never ever have a hardcore fixation on Tolkien's mythology though I will admit he sure had a knack for it!

If everyone in the world starts talking about this--or HOTD a lot--then maybe I'll watch (and I mean REALLY talking, like the way they talked about LOTR or GOT, not "eeew people of color woke woke woke" discussions) but for now, no interest. And when you said "focus group," I thought of generic corporate blockbuster crap like Kong: Skull Island and Jurassic World.

As for my viewing right now, just going through season 5 of Simpsons for the first time in a long time. Still good though seasons 4 and 6 and probably 3 are distinctly a bit better. The big highlight was seeing "Cape Feare" again. Good commentaries though a bit what you expect. I will try to watch the new season of B&B before the end of the year but as with the new B&B movie everyone stopped talking about it after a week so I'm guessing it's same old same old.
