I'm thinking I already asked you what you thought of Endless Wire? I think my mind is just doing that thing where it harmlessly writes off an album after two or three listens and then really kind of has no opinion, with these post-1973 Who albums.
I'd have ranked A Different Kind Of Truth as maybe their fourth or fifth best album and I do occasionally listen to songs from it--"Asis," "Honeysweetiebabydoll" and "Chinatown" come to mind. But, it's songs from like 1977!
The Weirdness didn't actually sound like any of the original three Stooges albums, all of which had a distinct identity. It just sounded like some dumb, deliberately super-simplistic modern postpunk stuff, with Iggy doing a couple Bowie imitations in there. I actually kind of liked it at the time, but everyone else completely hates it so there's that.
I wonder if new Smashing Pumpkins material constitutes "late period classic rock reunion albums". Probably does!!!
