TBH I have no idea re: how much I'd drink any given day but I usually bought 40s of Bud or Colt 45. Or Miller High Life if I was desperate- hard to get drunk off that shit but it was "$2.00 out the door" (incl. tax). If I was feeling "fancy", I'd do a 6 pack of Sierra Nevada. If I was going to a bar with friends, I'd do glasses of Sierra or Anchor Steam, shots of Patron or Don Julio and/or the occasional Bloody Mary or Long Island Ice Tea.
Yeah I know all about the Christian origins of the AA "big book" but again, it never bugged me much. I think the 12 steps are good in theory but mostly didn't do it out of laziness but TBH the "making amends" step was the one that seemed the most daunting by far.
"The best and most helpful AA-ism was not to take the first drink. Because it's definitely the first."
Very true. IIRC I've only had a single drink once, which was joining in a champagne toast at my best friend's wedding 1 year after I'd gotten sober (I later gave him shit about pressuring me to do this, pointing out that it could have resulted in disaster).
