As someone who has always been lukewarm on There Will Be Blood I sort of wondered if the world was catching up with me or something, or just Paul Thomas Anderson turning into a critics'-only director or something like that. I mean, I hope not, and I don't want that to be the case per se, but I think his reputation has been inching downward. Don't ask me to back that up though, it's just a hunch.
I never thought Godfather II was actually more acclaimed than the first one, just close. "Made him an offer he couldn't refuse" is a more iconic line than "I knew it was you Fredo"
