Most of what I had was coconut oil too. though I smoked CBD flower a few times (I liked it better than the oil, but it's too expensive).
The best I can explain is that CBD and THC do "work together" but it's misleading to focus on only those two. they are not 50/50 partners even though that's kind of how the media presents it.
all the cannabinoids and terpenes present in weed contribute to the effects. CBD isn't any more important than CBG, CBN, limonene, myrcene and on and on (there are tons of these). I think CBD just got so much publicity and hype cus it was legal in a lot of places when everything else wasnt.
Research is not remotely conclusive on how all these things actually work together (step up your game weed science), but it's pretty clear that they do since pure THC distillate with all the other stuff taken out feels different (vastly inferior imo) compared to high quality flower with all that stuff left in.
I don't know too much about hash, only bought it a few times on sale. mostly would just crumble pieces of it on a bowl of flower. Never tried eating it. But 10mgs is about my edible limit these days. For some reason I can smoke massive amounts of flower and always have a great time, but a few too many edibles and i'm in a fetal position in the shower for hours lmao.
That attitude is probably part of what led to Trudeau legalizing weed in the first place, so I guess not the worst trade off. but still, it's the prevailing approach he takes to pretty much everything he does so its pretty annoying.
