Yeah there's not much to "The Kids Are Alright" but the soundtrack is great
Some of the best live Who I've heard and a nice career overview. As for "Leeds", I'm admittedly not a "Tommy" fan but always favored the 14 track version. I think it mostly deserves its rep and have warmed up to live albums in general over the years. Never used to care much about them but now I often reach for a live slab over a studio set. And it's not really whether the versions are necessarily better or even substantially different- just nice to hear the song in a rawer form, especially when you're less familiar with that version. "Black Foliage" is definitely not the exact same album as "Cubist Castle"- saw its title implies, it's far darker. Gets downright creepy towards the end and is also trippier and less traditionally "indie" sounding. Also has the recurring title motif. It is funny that the 19th track both albums is approx 10 minutes of dull music musique concrete. I've always slightly preferred it to the debut- "Grass Canons" is my favorite track. Your assessment of "Faust IV" is pretty much what I expected. Still think you should check out "71 Minutes of Faust"- some pretty accessible stuff on that one.
