But it has been a decade of growth: how can it not be? I'm not very mentally stable and my maturity level can swing between that of a sage and that of a man-child, depending on my mood. I have a couple of diagnoses that, in my 30s, have largely abated. So I did have a lot of personal growth, just not socially, vocationally, or romantically.
My dad said that turning 40 was rough but turning 50 was no big deal at all. I guess that birthday is one of the toughest -- hang in there. (I had heard that turning 35 is rough but I had no problems.)
