Strange how mental health can be at odds with perceived success in other areas- is possible to maintain that dichotomy for awhile but it eventually comes crashing down and it sounds like that happened for you at the end of 2011.
Other than getting stoned and deep introspective thinking, what do you do to maintain your mental health? You on any meds? Started a new therapist weekly at the beginning of the year and it's been pretty helpful- really comes in handy to unload all that shit on such a regular basis. And like I said, I'm pretty big on "home remedies" like journaling, singing, dancing etc.
Yeah I complain about dating apps as much as the next guy but I do consider them to generally be an improvement over just trying to meet someone in public or letting friends set you up. I'm really an ideal candidate for apps since I tend to be too shy to make the first move and often oblivious when a woman likes me- they usually have to be really obvious and do things like actually point out the fact that they're flirting with me. So on the apps I'd always let the women hit me up first and it usually worked out pretty well despite the occasional ghosting.
