Music Babble

I was thinking about the American view of classic DW as "that show with terrible special effects" and the best response seems to be to ask what they would compare it to during say the 1970-1978 period. The American SF/Fantasy shows of the era were along the lines of The Six Million Dollar Man, Wonder Woman, The Bionic Woman, a fantastical premise but basically action adventure set on Earth. There is no corollary for it is there? Even Star Trek in the 60s took place mostly on the ship and all the planet they went to looked like the same leftover Cecil B Demille set.
