Re: Prepare for the new year with these book set in 2023
Oh God, Perfect Dark. The followup to GoldenEye 007, the game I spent most of 1997-98 (at least before November 23) playing non stop. I never ended up playing more than like 10 minutes of it and I don't even remember how good the reviews were (nowhere near as good as GoldenEye, obviously.) I bet cartridges of it are like $5 now, as opposed to cartridges of EarthBound, the one game I'd really like to have back, which will probably run you $2400 now.
Caleb Carr wrote The Alienist, a big mainstream hit novel that my mom had a copy of. I tried to read it and stopped after 30 pages, but this was in early high school.
There's a really dumb, godawful meme making the rounds now showing a still of Sean Connery wearing the red diaper in Zardoz and with the caption "This movie takes place in 2023, so prepare for everyone to be dressed like this." The movie takes place in 2293.
