I was born in 1982 so to me Clapton is first and foremost the "Tears In Heaven" guy, a song that I've found out over the last few years that lots of people have secretly hated all along. Ouch, ouch. And when I was ten I had a big fat Christian music teacher who tried to see if we'd all vote for Billy Ray Cyrus over Clapton at the Grammies, this is such a weird incident I wish I could go back in time and relive it.
I'm also finding out that some people hate the two Nick Cave albums that are about his dead kid(s) (they are very sparse, minimal music) and even a few people hate Bowie's big death album Blackstar which I'm trying right now myself. The final song is pretty dark!!!
I did know about Stevie Wonder too, obvoiusly.
