and just like grunge, there was some good stuff at the time but the influence was largely pretty negative. So yeah most of the stuff that's followed in beat poetry's wake has been pretty worthless. But there's some great stuff from the late 1800's + early 1900's if you know where to look (and are open to reading translated poetry).
