I guess I think the Beats' decline in stature predated the contemporary "woke" movement. Ginsberg and several of the others were gay or bisexual, and therefore not the straight white males who tend to come under criticism, but he/they haven't really been embraced into the queer canon as far as I can tell.

I think that it's really just that they're really perfect writers for teenagers, and I dunno if teenagers these days have that much interest in seeking out older literature. I get the sense the internet/social media has probably increased their focus on new books to the extent they read, but maybe that's totally false, I dunno.
