Page just didn't seem to know how to whip out an engaging solo in a live setting a lot of the time- not sure if it was nerves or drugs or what but what he's doing is usually dull and shockingly minimalist. And Plant was predictably often even more annoying live as well.
The best live Zeppelin I've come across is the Southampton University January '73 bootleg. Apparently many fanatics consider it their best show as well- the version of "Dazed & Confused" is especially awesome:
