I guarantee you every single pickup truck drivin' s***kicker around here knows AT LEAST "Pride & Joy" and that "house is a rockin' don't come a knockin'" song. His biggest hits are quite frequently played around here.
If those same people are aware that it was fruity ol' David Bowie who got him into the music industry I'd eat my own hat for breakfast and ask for seconds, my brother didn't even know that and he has SRV's albums on vinyl.

Judas Priest - And, uh, "Breakin' The Law." It wasn't just Jim who was familiar with that one--my whole generation (1997-2001) knew that song and laughed about it. "Painkiller" seemed reasonably well known too amongst kids I went to school with.
Iron Maiden's best known song is...well, I knew kids at school that knew "2 Minutes To Midnight" and "Children Of The Damned."
If any of this seems weird to you, be advised that a MISERABLY uncool band, Motley Crue, were absolutely huge out here during a time when Tommy Lee would've been better known in the American press for nailing Pam on tape.

I do not see Megadeth, Slayer or Pantera getting in, noooo. If they do, I hope Dave Mustaine's acceptance speech involves whining about being kicked out of Metallica.
