I would put Gary Glitter's chances for the R&R Hall of Fame below Chris Benoit's (in the WWE Hall). Benoit was legitimately great, like top ten all-time; Gary Glitter is much better known as, with a more illustrious career at, a child molester. He's had more child-sex convictions than hits BUT he was a major influence on the two-drummer lineup of the Fall (Hex Enduction Hour).
There's a wonderful set of Greek particles, "men" and "de". "De" sometimes appears on its own just as a connective particle, but "men" almost always requires a "de" in a later clause to complete its meaning. It's translated, in books aimed at beginners, as "on the one hand... on the other..." ("men... de". But the above would be "Benoit men was legitimately great; Gary Glitter de is much better known as, with a more illustrious career at, a child molester." Yeah that's grammatically fux0red but the construction has a very elegant effect that you can't capture in English.
