Sex Pistols - 1.57m monthly listeners, most popular song is "Anarchy in the UK" with 87m listens
Patti Smith - 2.9m monthly listeners, most popular song is "Because the Night" with 196m listens (but nothing else is close)
So, Patti is the clear winner in popularity but most likely just due to "Because the Night" (which I guess bolsters Matt's original point of needing a hit song). Without that single, they'd probably be equal.
For reference: New Order has 6.2m monthly listeners with 312m listens for "Blue Monday". Joy Division has 4.2m listeners/mo. Clearly a lot of these could be non-USA listeners, but I think that just makes the Sex Pistols induction even more of an outlier.
