Re: Major UK artists that will never get in the US HOF?
This post, coupled with Matt's post below mentioning how US-centered the RRHOF is got me thinking on how the genre of British folk-rock has really being ignored. With Fairport Convention, who has been headlining the Cropredy Festival held annually since 1976 and attracting up to 20,000 attendees, you can make the argument that they had direct influences on bands like Led Zeppelin and Jethro Tull. Perhaps all they are destined to be is footnotes to the overall musical cannon: Fairport Convention Sandy Denny Richard thompson John Martyn Ben Jansch John Renbourn Nick Drake Steeleye Span Pentangle Strawbs Incredible String Band Al Stewart Dave Mattacks The Waterboys what artists are the closest to this genre that have been inducted? Cat Stevens? Donovan ?
