Anyway, this thread inspired me to rewatch "Crumb" with my gf the other night so thanks for that. Still holds up and was reminded at how well Zwigoff (Terry that is- Crumb's friend and old timey music bandmate who went on to direct "Ghost World" and "Bad Santa") was at putting the thing together, allowing the doc to take on a life of its own and focus more on Crumb's family than was originally intended. And he includes women speaking out about where/how Crumb goes too far in a way that feels objective.
Crumb's one of my favorite artists and a pretty fascinating figure. He's perhaps the ultimate "total honestly, warts and all" type artist. His wife Aline (who recently died) describes it as "pure id on paper". Sick sex fantasies, drug-inspired insanity, cynical examinations of politics, race, culture etc. Definitely worth checking out.
