The big differences with Scanner Darkly were the consolidation of some characters, the guy with the bugs at the beginning and the guy who kills himself, and then the really significant move of having Donna as the other person in the scramble suit.

Btw, I just reread The Second Variety, which I had read a few years ago, and Screamers is more faithful than I'd remembered. They moved the story from a Soviets vs. UN was on Earth to a human corporation on another planet succeeding from Earth, and they had some big changes late in the movie. But nearly every "scene" in the book has an analogue in the movie.
