It's been a while since I revisited the movies and even longer since I revisted the show, but I think it's surprising that you think the movies are less consistent than the series which, as people have pointed out, is predictably kind of inconsistent. I can appreciate liking the show more because a much smaller percentage of it has been referenced to death.
