and I believe was happy with the result. It's not a perfect adaption but it's a good one. As I said, it's on youtube in poor quality, but it sounds like the dvd looks pretty lousy too. I assume the youtube version is just taken from the dvd or at least vhs.

Funny piece of trivia,

Unseen for twenty years because of a copyright issue: in one scene, George Orr plays a record of The Beatles' "With a Little Help From My Friends." The film was finally allowed to be rebroadcast when The Beatles' version of the song was replaced with one sung by a different vocalist.

When I watched it I just assumed that that compromise was original to the film.

The 2002 version *spoiler for the book*

doesn't have the aliens in it, and for some reason in the final reality Heather is now a waitress at a coffee shop instead of a lawyer, which feels weirdly sexist.
