I noticed it's set in 1992, that's when Ubik is set.
So it was published 22 years after it was written? Dick would have been dead by 1988, so God knows what he would have originally been planning to do with it. I do know lots of his stuff was written significantly before being published--I remember that A Scanner Darkly was written before his weird 1974 dental vision thingy, but published after.
