and I didn't correct myself but still felt shitty about it afterwards. This was one of my gf's friends and they're really cool and I was talking to their partner and referred to them as "her". They go by "they/them" which I can usually handle but it's still easier to slip up compared to simply switching male and female pronouns IMO.

Anyway, I guess I'm saying this to clarify that even for me the whole trans thing can be confusing and frustrating- and I'd wager that I've probably had significantly more interactions with trans folks than anyone else on this board. But if minor inconveniences like the interaction I described above are the result of everyone doing their part to make one of the most marginalized groups of people have an easier time, I say it's worth it and if you don't agree, you're probably a selfish douchebag. Can trans people be overly sensitive? Of course but try to have some ####ing empathy.

Think this mostly indicates how I'd answer these ridiculous poll questions but re: JK Rowling, I'm similar to Tabs in that I'm mostly ignorant about what she actually said. And yeah maybe some of it was blown out of proportion but it at least seems like she's gone out of her way to unnecessarily bash trans folks on multiple occasions so I mostly understand the backlash (and I've never cared about Harry Potter so aren't invested in her success at all).
