Motley Crue may have not been the mainstream in the late '90s anymore, but at the time, hair metal made a brief comeback as nostalgia/kitsch. VH1 was putting out those campy Behind the Music specials, and they featured some hair bands. The Crue special was one of the more popular ones. I was in college at the time, and some of the guys in my dorm contemplated seeing the Crew at the Sun Dome in Yakima.
Poison put out a greatest hits CD around that same time, and I went right to a shopping mall and bought it during spring break.
Surly I am the biggest hair metal apologist who still posts here. So it's ironic that I have not liked Motley Crue's music since I was in the eight grade. One of my least favorite popular bands from that era.
