Oopsie-puke, I was under the mistaken impression that Ebert handed a good review to The Rookie; looks like he damn near hated it. I misremembered this because Ebert was usually pretty nice to Eastwood. Then again, he was also usually nice to Nicolas Cage, Sean Penn, John Travolta, etc.

I don't like romantic stories about adultery either though my main memory of that film is my mom sneering at the godawful actor who played the heroine's son (and this Easter I got to watch my dad sneer at some of the bad actors in Gran Torino.) I've probably already shared that anecdote though.

Huh, that's of interest about Richard Jewell...my main memory of him was when he turned up on Saturday Night Live! Possibly the most awkward SNL cameo ever.
