I like Band of Gypsys, I thought it mostly had a really good reputation, but the WRC of yore didn't like it. Also, the title contains the "G" word, so it should be cancelled and any professor who plays it in class should be fired.

Monterey is the original line. I always hate his renditions of Like a Rolling Stone, but otherwise it's pretty good, if you care about Hendrix you have to hear Killing Floor somewhere. Watch the film of the performance, it's alot more essential than the album as an album.

The studio stuff is just okay. There are some highlights like Angel, but it doesn't live up to the original albums.

I like those other live albums but maybe you won't, since you don't like live albums. At least here the 1CD version of Woodstock though.

Most of the live footage in the old 1970s documentary movie is taken from these shows, if you've ever seen that. If you haven't the documentary stuff is not really worthwhile, and the live performances can be found elsewhere.
