I agree that the comparison is a little superficial - duos that use synthesizers and clever lyrics. Even within that rubric, I think Soft Cell are probably more similar to Sparks than PSB are. PSB's aesthetic comes much more from disco, which was a style that Sparks only really dabbled with. And the sensitivity is totally different.
