I think I produced the rating of Mingus Ah Um of Hex C in the past but the album has grown with relisten. Initially I love the first half but was somewhat detached with the second half. However going through all the Mingus 60's live albums (especially the 20 minute version of Fables of Fabius which initially the studio version past me by upon initial hearings) has allowed me to appreciate Mingus Ah Um upon return.
