I've never been good at remembering what years albums are from. I know 1969 and 1977 each have several albums I love (Arthur, Liege & Lief, New York Tendaberry...; Rumours, Marquee Moon, Animals...) but I suspect for breadth of good music the answer would probably be somewhere in the early '80s, since there were a lot of disparate trends going on then that all produced a lot of good music (punk, hardcore, post-punk, new wave, synthpop, power pop, disco). But that answer might not stand up to scrutiny.
